Accountant - Corporate Controllership

Sonoco is a multi-billion-dollar global company specializing in products and packaging. The Accountant will support the Corporate Accounting and Global Consolidation team to ensure accurate financial statements for the organization, assist in monthly and quarterly financial processes, and contribute to various financial analyses and reporting tasks. Responsibilities Assist and coordinates the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and worldwide consolidation of actuals, including the submission of monthly financial information and reporting schedules from the business units Assist the consolidation procedures, including investigation and clearing of inter-company balances as needed Assist and support the OneStream system Cash flow procedures timely and complete Corporate cash flow workflow Assist in compilation of consolidated balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and other executive reporting schedules Aid with the review of the 10-Q/10-K, and review of audit committee materials Assist of the preparation of the periodic financial presentations for the CFO (earnings conference calls, Board meetings, internal management presentations, etc.) Assist Corporate Balance sheet flux analysis quarterly Assist with system transformation, and process improvement projects as sponsored by the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller Assist with governance over organizational structure and general ledger account changes Prepare and manage quarterly Government Surveys Assist with Quarterly/ Annual Audit deliverables Assist and prepare with LIFO and Proft reserve accrual analysis Provide ad hoc Financial analysis and reporting as needed Skills Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred Knowledge of financial accounting / reporting with a balance of external reporting and operational analysis, preferably within or associated with publicly traded multinational manufacturing companies Solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational efficiency Keen eye for accuracy and a solid understanding of accounting principles and a desire to contribute to a dynamic team Proficiency with excel and other Microsoft Office products with ability to retrieve data, manipulate such data and create useful analytical information Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Transformative, process oriented and forward-thinking mindset CPA preferred Strong systems skills preferred (e.g., OneStream, Oracle Finance, supporting data warehouse systems, etc.) Experience performing complex consolidations of global businesses preferred and strong GAAP understanding Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents, including FSA and HSA options 401(k) retirement plan with company match Wellbeing tools and resources to support holistic health, including an Employee Assistance Program with a variety of services Paid time off and holidays to recreate, rejuvenate and care for the health of yourself and family Variety of company paid and voluntary employee-paid insurance plans including life, personal accident, and disability insurance Tuition reimbursement Company Overview Sonoco is a manufacturer of consumer, industrial, healthcare, and protective packaging.
