AI/ML Engineering Lead

AI/ML Engineering Lead Climatize makes it incredibly simple to invest in renewable energy projects across the US while potentially earning up to 12.75% annually. Having successfully raised over $11,000,000 for renewable energy projects since our launch in May 2023, we're expanding our engineering team and seeking a founding AI/ML Engineer to be the technical lead for a new product line. Our mission is to generate $1 Billion per year of new investments in renewable energy by 2030 while the vision is to build a global network for climate finance. Salary will be geographically adjusted. Key Responsibilities: • Own architecture and development of agentic systems—from data intake to document generation using LLMs and structured APIs. • Design intelligent workflows that pull, parse, and transform data from APIs into actionable insights. • Integrate LLMs (e.g. OpenAI, Claude, Mistral) into automated document pipelines Collaborate with product, design, and ops to define use cases and improve user experience for solar developers and Climatize’s investment team. • Deploy and monitor production-ready AI tools, balancing automation, reliability, and user feedback. • Evaluate and improve model accuracy, performance, and ethical alignment (e.g. hallucination risk, explainability). • Build for scale, enabling the agent to process thousands of projects with evolving regulatory and site conditions. What we’re looking for: You'll need to be passionate about rolling your sleeves up & doing the work. Ideal candidates must have a strong bias toward action with the ability to problem-solve quickly and make decisions based on Climatize business and product goals. Basic Qualifications: • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or AI/ML roles, with 3+ years focused on applied ML or NLP systems. • Deep experience working with LLMs and tools like LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar frameworks. • Strong backend development skills (Python preferred; familiarity with Node.js/TypeScript a plus). • Experience integrating external APIs, working with JSON data, and building automated workflows. • Demonstrated ability to deploy production systems (Docker, cloud platforms specifically Azure). • Self-starter with a high degree of autonomy and ownership mindset. • Fluent in English, Spanish is a plus; strong written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience in climate tech, energy, or infrastructure (e.g. solar permitting, geospatial data, utility workflows). • Familiarity with tools like Aurora Solar API, PVsyst, NREL, SAM, Energy Toolbase, or equivalent. • Exposure to document automation, PDF templating, or OCR pipelines. • Experience working with vector databases, RAG pipelines, or hybrid AI retrieval systems. • Entrepreneurial or early-stage startup experience.
