Job Description Summary As a Control System Engineer*in (m/f/d) you are responsible for supporting the operations team by performing field service activities at customer sites, delivering engineering validation support, and leading maintenance services across the GE control systems installed base. You work within defined parameters to make informed decisions, apply engineering concepts to moderately complex issues, and resolve technical challenges through immediate actions or short-term planning. This role is part of the GE Automation business and requires extensive travel of approximately 160 days per year. Job Description Essential Responsibilities: The On-Site Services Specialist will be responsible for: Commissioning of substation control systems (SCADA, HMI, networks, cyber security) at customer sites. Performing control system validation and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Leading maintenance activities, including first-line fault diagnostics and on-call support (out of hours, weekends, holidays) for onshore/offshore substations. Providing technical guidance to customer personnel on installation, operation, maintenance, and ensuring delivery of detailed service reports. Supporting engineering tasks (database updates, system upgrades/modifications, network/firewall configurations, cyber security testing). Managing fault reports, customer complaints, and driving quick resolution in line with procedures. Coordinating with internal CoE teams regarding product/system obsolescence and improvement actions. Supporting internal/external training activities and continuously developing product/system knowledge. Communicating commissioning schedules, requirements, and quality issues to project and service management. Ensuring safety compliance, maintaining competence authorizations, and applying GE quality and EHS standards on site. Job Requirements: BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Proven experience in service or project environments within the energy, transmission. Demonstrated commissioning experience in substations across voltage levels from 11 kV to 400 kV. Experience with substation automation systems, technical support, testing, maintenance, and commissioning in transmission, distribution, industrial, or power plant environments. Experience with protection relays and control systems (LV/MV/HV). Hands-on experience with substation automation systems (Zenon ,PACiS, DS Agile) Experience in detailed design, functional testing, FAT, and on-site commissioning of control systems. Practical experience in SCADA/HMI testing, IEC61850 / IEC101 / IEC104 integration, and cyber security functional testing. Professional working proficiency in German and English. Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 160 days/year). Valid driver’s license. Desired Characteristics: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and achieve milestones. Candidates with GE relays and GE substation automation expertise are highly preferred. Ability to perform under pressure, think clearly, and solve problems quickly. Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when required. Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus. Team-oriented attitude with high self-motivation and a proactive, self-learning mindset. Positive energy, resilience, and a strong service mindset. Offshore certification and basic first-aid skills (advantageous but not essential).
