What You’ll Do Honeycomb Insurance is seeking an experienced Director of Underwriting East to lead and expand our admitted underwriting operations in the region. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in property and casualty underwriting, with a focus on multi-family and habitational properties. You will play a key role in developing underwriting strategies, managing risk selection, and driving profitable growth in the admitted market. The candiate will have a technology driven passon working with industry leaders and experts. Underwriting Leadership: Lead the admitted underwriting team for the East Coast, ensuring alignment with Honeycomb’s risk appetite and profitability goals. Cross functional collaboration with director of sales. Risk Assessment: Evaluate, select, and price risks for multi-family and habitational properties, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. Market Expansion: Drive growth in the admitted business by developing strong relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners. Process Optimization: Collaborate with Sales, AVP of UW, CUO, product, technology, and data teams to enhance underwriting workflows and leverage automation for efficiency. Team Development: Mentor, develop and support underwriters, fostering a high-performance underwriting culture. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize analytics and AI-powered insights to refine underwriting decisions and optimize portfolio performance. Basic Requirements Experience : Minimum 7+ years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of property insurance products, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory frameworks. Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex risk profiles and make data-driven underwriting decisions. Tech-Savvy : Comfortable working with digital underwriting platforms and AI-driven tools. Communication : Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to build and maintain broker relationships. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field preferred. CPCU, ARM, or other industry designations are a plus.
