Estimator (Residential Construction)

Tilson Homes looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the Houston area as an Estimator. Requirements As an Estimator, you'll be the link between our excellent design and construction teams, producing accurate job cost estimates for single-family homes using 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling). You'll partner closely with our design, purchasing, and construction teams to ensure every home is built on time, on budget, and to our high standards. The ideal candidate should have 1 to 3 years of experience in the home building industry or a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. They should possess a strong understanding of residential construction methods and materials, and be proficient in reading and interpreting architectural drawings. Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and estimating software, such as Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Pipeline, or Marksystems, is preferred. Additional requirements are: • Interpret architectural plans, sections, details, and redlines to complete precise takeoffs. • Generate detailed cost estimates for projects at various design and construction stages. • Review plans, specifications, and customer requirements, integrating them into accurate estimates. • Prepare quantity takeoffs and unit pricing for materials and labor. • Recommend cost-saving options in materials, methods, or construction practices. • Conduct cost comparisons and analysis as needed. • Maintain and update estimating formulas and software to keep our database accurate and reliable.
