Graduate Software Developer (Available 2026)

They are seeking a Graduate Software Developer to join their Digital Advisory, Software Development, Data, and Geospatial team in New York City, where the candidate will develop web-based applications, engage with experts in the field, and contribute to research and development efforts. Responsibilities Software development of web-based applications using JavaScript frameworks Engaging experts across the built environment Participation in research and development Providing insight from data Assist in the development of product roadmaps Communication through writing and presenting Skills A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field Experience with one or more of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python Interested and curious about the built environment (no experience necessary) Research oriented, critical thinker Strong in object-oriented design principles Experience using 3rd party APIs, frameworks and development kits Development and support of relational databases (SQL) and/or NoSQL technologies Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies Familiarity with relevant JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular 8 or React Familiarity with version control tools such as Git or SVN Excellent written and verbal communication skills Candidate must be eligible to work in the US without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role Master's Degree in degree in Computer Science or a related field Web application development experience in JavaScript/Node.js/HTML/CSS Strong in Python Experience working in a development team environment using collaboration tools such as Atlassian Knowledge of statistics and data science Experience and knowledge in GIS, Spatial and 3D data Experience building web applications: web maps, websites, data visualization UX/UI research, design methods, and Design System integration Experience with visualization techniques and libraries, e.g. D3.js Experience in DevOps processes such as docker and tools for continuous integration/continuous delivery Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure Benefits Global Profit Share Plan (paid bi-annually) 401(k) plan with up to 10% company match Company Overview Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services.
