Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking PhD level students for a 12-week internship role in Gaithersburg, MD. The role involves developing a quantitative systems pharmacology model for oncology applications and maintaining a reproducible codebase while curating literature for parameter values. Responsibilities Develop a quantitative systems pharmacology model for an oncology application Curate literature to identify parameter values and test various modeling scenarios to inform decision-making Maintain reproducible codebase with version control and transparently communicate modeling analyses Skills PhD level students majoring in Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2026 Strong mathematical background and hands on experience of modeling with ODEs Some coding experience is required, preferably in Python/Julia/MATLAB Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD 3 days per week US Work Authorization is required at time of application This role will not be providing OPT support Experience of mathematical modeling of biological systems Knowledge of systems biology / QSP modeling, control theory Company Overview Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease is focused on pioneering new possibilities for the rare disease community.
