SUMMARY: Lead the re-platforming and build-out of an internal KVM-based virtualization environment on new UCS hardware in the Ashburn data center. Integrate OpenStack and open-source automation tools to support the migration of workloads from legacy datacenter, ensuring robust, scalable, and automated infrastructure. HIERARCHY: Will report to the Service Delivery Manager PRIMARY DUTIES: • Tear down and rebuild existing ESX-based UCS blade environment, transitioning to KVM virtualization. • Design and implement an OpenStack platform for internal use, considering open-source alternatives to OpenShift due to current challenges. • Integrate SAN and NetApp storage solutions into the new platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. • Deploy and configure open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible) for infrastructure management and orchestration. • Collaborate with internal staff (including offshore resources) and provide technical leadership and mentorship as needed. • Work closely with network architects and storage teams to ensure seamless integration and operation. • Document architecture, configuration, and operational procedures for the new environment. • Support ongoing platform enhancements and troubleshooting. COMPENTENCY: Required • Extensive experience with Linux, KVM virtualization, and OpenStack deployment. • Strong background in UCS hardware, SAN, and NetApp storage integration. • Proficiency with open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible). • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team. • Excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred • Experience with OpenShift and other open-source cloud platforms. • Prior involvement in large-scale data center migrations and re-platforming projects. • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments.
