Senior Security Engineer (Remote)

This role offers a strategic opportunity for a Senior Security Engineer to lead the migration from traditional network firewalls to advanced workload-based micro-segmentation. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and validate secure policies across on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring optimal protection of critical workloads. You will assess current firewall configurations, translate network-centric rules into workload policies, deploy and configure Illumio agents, and validate policies to maintain business continuity. The position requires strong collaboration with DevOps, network, and security teams, along with documentation and process standardization. This is a highly technical, hands-on role with direct impact on the organization’s security posture and operational resilience. Accountabilities: · Assess existing Check Point VSX firewall environments, including rules, policies, and traffic flows. · Map network-level firewall rules to workload-level micro-segmentation policies using Illumio. · Design and implement a comprehensive micro-segmentation strategy across workloads. · Deploy Illumio agents and configure policies in the Policy Compute Engine (PCE). · Validate policies through traffic monitoring and simulations to ensure no disruption to business operations. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, network, and security personnel. · Document migration processes, policy configurations, and validation results. · Support the decommissioning of legacy firewall systems post-migration. · 7+ years of proven experience in Security Engineering. · Expertise with Check Point VSX firewalls, including rule sets, virtual systems, and traffic segmentation. · Hands-on experience with Illumio micro-segmentation and PCE configuration. · Deep understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, TCP/IP, and firewall policies. · Ability to translate network-centric rules into workload-level security policies. · Experience with traffic analysis and network mapping tools. · Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking. · Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across technical teams. · Bonus: Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), scripting/automation, zero-trust frameworks, and compliance reporting related to segmentation. · Competitive salary and compensation package. · Opportunities for professional growth and skill development. · Collaborative and inclusive work environment. · Engagement with cutting-edge security technologies and frameworks. · Flexible work arrangements and hybrid work options (as applicable).
