Position Overview The Hybrid Manual / Automated Tester – VA LGY VALERI will support testing activities for the VA Loan Guaranty Service (LGY) VA Loan Electronic Reporting Interface (VALERI) product. VALERI is VA’s enterprise system used to manage and oversee the full lifecycle of VA-guaranteed home loans after origination, with a strong focus on loan servicing, default management, loss mitigation, and foreclosure oversight. It serves VA Loan Guaranty Service staff and VA-approved loan servicers, enabling compliance reporting, case management, financial tracking, and decision support to help VA protect Veterans, minimize losses, and ensure program integrity. This role will support both manual and automated testing efforts across ongoing sustainment and incremental enhancements, working closely with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure system quality, reliability, and compliance in a federal environment. Key Responsibilities • Execute manual test cases to validate functional, regression, and integration requirements. • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using VA-supported automation tools. • Participate in test planning, test case development, and test execution for new features and releases. • Validate data accuracy, business rules, and system behavior across integrated systems. • Identify, document, and track defects using standard defect management tools. • Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues. • Support system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities. • Maintain test documentation, test evidence, and execution results in accordance with federal audit and compliance standards. • Support troubleshooting and validation of production issues as needed. Required Qualifications • Ability to obtain a VA Public Trust Clearance. Education & Experience (must meet one of the following): • Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of software testing or quality assurance experience, OR • Associate’s degree + 5 years of software testing or quality assurance experience, OR • High School Diploma/GED + 7 years of software testing or quality assurance experience. Testing Tools & Technologies • Experience with one or more of the following automation tools: • Ruby • Cucumber • Java • Selenium • Experience with one or more of the following manual testing tools: • JIRA • Postman • ServiceNow Workflows (SWL) or similar tools Preferred Qualifications • Experience with both manual and automated testing in enterprise applications. • Experience using multiple VA-supported automation tools (Ruby, Cucumber, Java, Selenium). • Experience with API testing and validation. • Experience supporting Salesforce and/or MuleSoft–based systems. • Experience supporting federal government systems or compliance-driven environments. • Familiarity with Agile or iterative development methodologies. • Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document defects and test results. • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. • Proactive mindset – jumps in and connects the dots and fills gaps, and identifies and tackles work without being asked. Work Environment • This role supports a federal government customer; candidates must meet all background and eligibility requirements. • Remote work environment with potential for rare or infrequent travel to customer sites. • Work involves systems containing sensitive but unclassified government data and requires adherence to strict access, change management, and documentation standards.
